Our Story

Situated on the fertile land of Goomburra in Darling Downs, Happy Farmers is a family-run farm. We have bushland, hills, and big fields. Our neighbours are known for producing animal feed. This is a beautiful community.

In 2005, our Grandpa came to Australia from Taiwan to bless our land. From then on, we have been cultivating the land by following Grandpa’s agriculture model on Mt Zion in Taiwan. Grandpa is determined not to use any chemical fertilisers or pesticides on our crops. While some of us have teaching and accounting backgrounds, we actually did not know much about farming.

We followed Grandpa’s teaching and learned how to farm step by step. We grow seasonal vegetables such as kale, silver beet, lettuce, potatoes, and broccoli. We also plant fruit trees such as mulberries, plums, nectarines, pears, and olives. We make our own fertilisers and grow leguminous plants to nourish our land and be self-sufficient. Sustainable agriculture is our goal.

We have a lot of edible weeds, all planted by the Abba Father. They have high energy level and are most nutritious. Our life on the farm is not without trials or hardships. There were pest problems, winter frost, floods, and extreme droughts.

Sometimes, after a rainy day, we will go to our vegetable garden at night, with torches in our hands, to catch snails and slugs. In cold winter nights, we put on our warm jackets and go out to the nursery to cover our crops with frost protection sheets.

We are a family-run organic farm, so we often bring our children along to work. Together with our children, we plant, weed and harvest. This is a picture of our happy family.

Our children run around barefooted, to connect with the ‘happy germs’ in the soil. That is why we are called Happy Farmers. Organic farming is not just a way of farming. It is also our livelihood and way of life. We look after the land from God with our love and our hands. Not only do we provide for ourselves, we also provide for our friends so we share the blessings and joy from God together.
